Overview

The two pillars of TUAT, the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Engineering, are rooted in the Agricultural Training School and the Sericulture Experiment Section of the Naito-Shinjuku Branch of the Industrial Promotion Board, Ministry of Home Affairs, respectively, established as a place for training and research during the early days of Japan's agricultural industry development. Under the basic philosophy of “Mission Oriented Research and Education giving Synergy in Endeavors toward a Sustainable Earth”, the University contributes to world peace and the advancement of science and technology in harmony with society and the nature, and fosters human resources capable of solving issues for a sustainable society and actualizing such a society, through education and research in agricultural and engineering sciences, and their interdisciplinary fields.

We will establish a demonstration field ”region-specific testbeds” that maximizes the potential capital of Tama area and the business capital of central Tokyo, creating social issue-solving businesses.
We collaborate to optimize social cost with the approach of laws and regulations, through the initiatives such as the efficient resource usage, the integration of food and health, and harmony with the environment.
Furthermore, through this initiative, we will establish the framework for creation of new industries and startups in the agriculture, food, environment, and energy sectors from Tama area. We also target to rollout our knowledge, technology, and know-how both Japan and global through the development of next-generation leaders.
