Overview
Social X Inc. empowers public-private co-creation to tackle social challenges, partnering closely with local governments across Japan. Our core platforms include Gyaku-Propo, an open innovation matching service connecting municipalities and businesses, and Social X Acceleration, a co-creation-focused startup accelerator.
By bringing local governments into the innovation ecosystem—traditionally limited to private players—we help build ventures that balance financial return and social impact, aligned with a new model of capitalism.
In 2025, we launched the Social X Impact Fund, Japan’s first impact fund utilizing dormant deposits, to back mission-driven entrepreneurs from the investment side.
Initiative details
Social X Studio is an impact startup incubation program for university students, technical college students, and intrapreneurs.
The program enhances participants’ understanding of social issues by providing access to real-world challenges sourced directly from Japanese local governments.
Participants utilize a curated database of actionable public-sector problems and co-create business ideas through ideation with government officials.
By combining deep problem insight with access to public networks and knowledge, the program improves the likelihood of post-launch success while lowering the barrier to founding impact-driven startups.
