Overview

Startup Ecosystem Association aims to realize an environment and ecosystem in which many startups can be born and grow in Japan and eventually contribute to economic development. With a sense of speed, activities are being carried out exactly like a startups. Activities include working groups focusing on the three most important issues for startups growth and organization and human resources, finance, global diversity - as well as organizing large-scale events, study groups to solve individual issues and diversity surveys in cooperation with various supporting companies.

Initiative details

▼Outline of the initiative The project supports the organizational development of start-ups and contributes to producing start-ups that grow significantly. Startup Culture LAB holds open lectures to discuss organizational development methods of fast-growing start-ups and closed workshops to solve the problems of each startups. The Startup Culture Survey quantitatively analyzes the human resources and organizational status of startups and provides tools for startups to develop their own organizations.

 

▼Vision and ultimate goal of the initiative Since April 2023, the Startup Ecosystem Association has been discussing the ideal organizational image of rapidly growing start-ups and the methodologies for realizing it through the pilot operation of the Startup Culture LAB, a place to learn about human resources, organizations and growth, and the prototype of the organizational culture diagnostic tool. The organization is run by experienced members from domestic and international start-up support companies with a network of overseas start-up ecosystems, and has held major events with more than 1,000 visitors from 120 start-up companies, Working groups focusing on the three most important issues for start-up growth – organization and human resources, finance, and global diversity – are held in collaboration with a variety of support companies.

 

▼Own strengths and assets to be utilized in this initiative From April 2023, the Startup Ecosystem Association will pilot the Startup Culture LAB., a place to learn about human resources, organizations and growth, and implement a prototype of the Organizational Culture Diagnostic, an organizational diagnostic tool, in order to build a system to strategically create the ideal organization required for the rapid growth of startups. We are building a system to strategically create the ideal organization required for rapid start-up growth through the pilot operation of the Organizational Culture Diagnostic. ▼Methods and criteria for selecting startups and other companies for support The Startup Culture LAB. open sessions and Startup Culture Survey are free and open to unlimited participation, so no selection is made. The Startup Culture LAB. will be selected based on criteria such as (1) whether the organization is aiming for growth, (2) whether the organization is of a certain size, and (3) whether the management or HR manager class can commit to the project.

 

▼Enthusiasm for the project Taking advantage of the association’s management structure, which has links with various start-up support companies, a new and unprecedented support environment will be created to strategically create the ideal organization needed for the rapid growth of start-ups. Through this project, we aim to strengthen the start-up ecosystem in Tokyo, contribute to the creation and growth of start-ups, and grow start-up businesses in the ecosystem as a whole.
